Sr. Manager – Capital Markets

 

The Senior Manager will be part of an independent valuations control team within Global Finance. This team will provide independent validation of the company’s valuations and be responsible for establishing and maintaining strong governance around all of the company’s valuation methodologies and processes. Clients of the group include senior management, business heads, regulators, and both internal and external audit. This team will also work closely with traders, CFOs, market risk team and middle office to ensure a complete understanding of business issues and the accurate execution of valuation policy.

 

Responsibilities:

 

·         Assist Senior Director in establishing and maintaining enterprise governance structure including Policies, Committee(s), and strong control framework around Capital One’s valuation practices

·         Create and run new valuation models

·         Perform independent price verification and challenge assumptions and estimates used by the core valuations group

·         Verify and validate various valuation models in Global Finance

·         Escalate valuations dispute to senior management as and when necessary

·         Manage 1-2 associates

 

Basic Qualifications:

 

·         Bachelor’s Degree

·         3 years of capital markets experience either in a front or middle office role with specific valuation experience or accounting valuation

 

Preferred Qualifications:

 

·         Enthusiasm and energy to work to tight deadlines

·         Working knowledge of instruments being valued, credit loss projections, and valuation techniques

·         Understanding of the requirements of FAS 107, FAS 157, FAS 159

·         Ability to understand complex products, and analyze transaction and process flows

·         Strong commitment to learn and operate outside of comfort zone

·         Knowledge of derivative pricing, risk and valuation

·         Excellent written and spoken communication skills

·         5-7 years experience of capital markets experience either in a front or middle office role with specific valuation experience or accounting valuation

·         Prior experience in derivatives, investments securities, debit, MSR, loan and goodwill valuations a plus

·         Advanced degree in Finance, Economics, Advance Mathematics preferred
